Focusing
Red meets with his therapist, Dr. Seward, and learns a humanistic technique called "Focusing." By meditating on his bodily "felt-senses" rather than his logical thoughts, Red explores his complex feelings surrounding Aiko's death. He discovers that beneath his "guilt" is a deep, protective anger toward Blue for unfairly blaming him, and a profound fear that Blue is right about him being a coward. Validating and "thanking" his internal anger causes the physical pain to fade, giving Red a renewed sense of hope and integration.
Later, at Sabrina's gym, the psychics grow anxious as Sabrina has been missing for over a month. Red, Jason, and Satori are joined by Daniel, Rei, and a psychic lawyer named Cyr to attempt a group mind-merge with Cyr's exeggcute. The goal is to study how a multi-brained pokemon naturally partitions knowledge. Tetsuo oversees for safety. The merger is chaotic and difficult to navigate. Suddenly, the entire network is hijacked by an overwhelming broadcast of sensory data regarding "cookies," causing the participants to blank out and chew at nothing. Daniel abruptly withdraws the exeggcute, snapping them out of it. During the debrief, they try to determine whose stray thought caused the override. As Daniel and Cyr joke about how lucky it was that the thought wasn't something embarrassing, Red has a sudden, chilling realization: someone in the group—likely carrying dangerous secrets—intentionally projected the absurd thought to sabotage the merge and prevent their mind from being read.
