Storm
Red and Leaf teleport from the cruise ship directly to the Vermilion Trainer House, arriving just as the stormfront hits the city. Realizing they cannot safely reach Blue at the harbor, they head for a nearby hospital. The sheer scale of the disaster becomes apparent when a massive, frenzied flock of fleeing bird pokemon passes over the city, smashing through windows and littering the streets with the injured and dead. Leaf’s empathy wars with her survival instincts as she desperately tries to save the dying birds.
Suddenly, the Stormbringer’s "Pressure" washes over them. The legendary aura amplifies Red’s fear into an overpowering urge to flee and hide, while it twists Leaf’s empathy into paralyzing, irrational guilt. Driven by the supernatural terror, they take shelter inside a clothing store just as a massive stampede of panicked land pokemon rushes through the streets. A crazed nidorino crashes through the storefront, sparking a chaotic battle. Leaf risks her own life to capture the burning nidorino, while Red struggles to maintain his composure.
Their sanctuary is further breached when a massive kingler smashes through the wall from the adjacent building. Red’s pikachu manages to paralyze the crab, but is swatted across the room. Leaf captures the kingler, but they discover Pikachu's lower spine has been severed. Heartbroken but forced to keep moving, Red and Leaf gather the few civilians hiding in the store and barricade them inside an administrative office, using their pineco to lay Spikes at the door. Accompanied by a stubborn civilian named Tony, Red and Leaf head back out into the raging storm to reach the hospital.
