Red urgently warns the group that the entity is broadcasting a psychic scream of pure sorrow, acting as a beacon that will draw vulnerable scavengers from the surrounding area to feed. Sergeant Iko orders a defensive retreat up the stairs. Leaf, Red, Jean, Maria, and Artem remain on the lower floors to hold the chokepoint against the incoming horde, while Blue and Jason accompany Gale's strike team to the top floor to hunt the source.

Downstairs, the chilling, baby-like cries of cubone and marowak echo up the stairwell as a massive horde floods the tower. The defenders pour attacks into the stairwell, utilizing Ice Beam and Razor Leaf, but the frenzied scavengers relentlessly push through. Iko deploys a slaking as a living barricade, which Red soon swaps for his kingler, yet the bodies of the fallen continue to pile up. To buy time, they launch pokedolls and use charmeleon's flaming pitch to block the ascent. Horrified that the compulsion is driving even newborn cubone to throw themselves to their deaths, Leaf realizes the slaughter must be stopped at the source. She begs Red and Jean to drop their shields and use their telepathy to project her emotions at the entity as a countermeasure. Leaning into the fear, Leaf channels pure, motherly love and a desperate will to live.

Upstairs, Blue is stunned by the top floor. The surreality warps the space so completely that it resembles a massive, curved cavern, forcing them to navigate using the steady light of Jason's lampent. Jason theorizes that the entity might be possessing the entire floor itself. After two Rangers disappear without a trace, the team regroups and Jason provokes a reaction. The ghost emerges from the wall—a terrifying, mutated, undead marowak. It attacks with lethal speed, constantly phasing through the architecture to dodge attacks. With devastating strikes from its bone club, it instantly destroys Gale's mismagius and Haku's umbreon, while bludgeoning Rangers. Blue commands his eevee using a laser pointer to aim a Shadow Ball, but the ghost is too fast. Desperate, Blue throws an Ultra Ball, only to watch it pass harmlessly through the incorporeal creature.

Just as the team is about to be overwhelmed, the ghost suddenly stutters and freezes—struck by the impact of Leaf's projected emotions from below. The team unleashes a desperate volley of Dark Pulse and Flamethrower attacks. Before Blue can get a lock with another ball, the ghost vanishes entirely. Instantly, the surreality collapses, the crushing grief lifts, and Blue removes his goggles to find the room completely normal. The bodies of the fallen Rangers have disappeared with the entity.
