After mapping out the acoustic trap for their upcoming abra hunt on Bill's land, Red calls his mother to admit he needs psychic lessons, framing it as a way to safely handle his trauma. He borrows against his savings to afford both the lessons and his investment in clefairy.

Red's first session with Psychic Ayane is agonizing. She demonstrates "Reception" by projecting a second mind beside his, cycling through emotions—hope, anger, curiosity—while Red struggles to identify them through his sweat and nausea. Ayane explains that his psychic "muscles" aren't weak, but clenched tight around his partition; even passive connection is excruciating. The trio reunites at the Trainer House to watch Daisy's highly anticipated Coordinator Contest. Daisy stuns the region by commanding her clefairy Moonlight to use Metronome six times in a row, predicting the random outcomes through the acoustic shape of her song. The market price of clefairy instantly quadruples. Red, Blue, and Leaf, having quietly bought up cheap clefairy beforehand, secure the massive windfall they need to fund their journeys.
